| | Montreux, on the shore of Lake Geneva is
the world-famous home of the Montreux Jazz Festival. Artists such as Charles
Chaplin, Freddy Mercury, Igor Stravinsky, Ernest Hemingway, Lord Byron and many
others chose this place for the beauty of the landscape, its terraced vineyards
and snowcapped Alps. The Swiss Riviera, as they call it, is one of the most
sunny places in Switzerland. The promenade on the lake side, with the Castle
of Chillon, is a reminder of the great history of knights, princes and popes;
all of whom have stayed in it at various times. A must see, it offers a different
hue in winters as against summers.
